CULTURE NEWS

  • On Oct. 28, 1934, the Bloomington Municipal Airport was dedicated during an airshow witnessed by 60,000 people with Gov. Henry Horner delivering a keynote speech (83 planes performed loops amid heavy traffic along Rt. 9) that marked a milestone in local aviation.  WGLT
  • Threshold to Hope will launch its Multicultural Art & Diversity Program (The Color Our Stories Project) this weekend. The program will provide children with new art experiences that celebrate a range of cultural stories at the nonprofit's venue.  The Pantagraph

EDUCATION NEWS

  • ISU and Heartland signed three transfer agreements for engineering and special education students. Officials said the new deals will smooth credit transfers and boost academic opportunities.  The Pantagraph
  • Two Central Illinois principals, Fabian Daniels of Annie Jo Gordon Community Learning Center in Peoria and Angie Codron of Normal West High School, are finalists for the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Leadership among nearly 100 nominations. Their long-standing work in improving school climate and reducing absenteeism has earned them this recognition.  25 News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bloomington will soon send letters about a federally mandated lead pipe replacement program that will start in south Bloomington a year ahead of schedule thanks to state funding. The project will replace nearly 600 service lines to help fix leaks that contribute to a nearly 30% water loss.  25 News Now
