- ➤ Group Tool plans to add a 100,000-square foot facility to its Lexington plant, which will create up to 30 skilled manufacturing jobs. Construction will begin this year and take 8 months in Lexington. WGLT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Unit 5 School Board member Stan Gozur said four schools use mobile classrooms due to overcrowding and two schools are near capacity. The board will review realignment options, including closing Carlock Elementary or repurposing Glenn Elementary at its April 15 meeting (final vote planned). WGLT
- ➤ Don Whitman — a technology and engineering teacher from Normal Community — was named East Central Regional Teacher of the Year and shared his reaction and passion for teaching. The award spotlights his dedication to education locally. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Illinois State University's Redbird Flight program helps students build practical skills to manage everyday expenses and plan for retirement. Led by Dr. Kevin Ahlgrim, it offers workshops plus will soon launch an email newsletter to ease money worries. WGLT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bloomington City Council approved a public-private agreement with Carle Health and Deneen Brothers Farms for a 35-acre medical campus at Empire Business Park on the east side. The partnership includes $6 million for infrastructure improvements — as the city waives up to $600,000 in fees to support health care expansion. WGLT
- ➤ Starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday, the southbound right lane on Main Street from West Locust Street to West College Avenue in Normal will close for storm sewer repairs + the work is part of scheduled maintenance. The Pantagraph
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The American Red Cross is hosting blood and platelet donation events during March to keep blood supplies stable. In Bloomington, donors can visit the Blood Donation Center at 1 Westport Court today from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.—two IDs are required and each donation earns a $15 Amazon gift card. 25 News Now
