CULTURE NEWS

  • Bob Odenkirk will appear at the Normal Theater on Thursday, April 2 for a preview screening of his new film Normal; in-person tickets will be available at the box office beginning at 4:30 p.m. with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the screening starting at 6:30 p.m.  WGLT
  • Normal has announced a series of projects celebrating Route 66’s 100th anniversary. A 1950s-themed picnic will take place at One Normal Plaza on June 7 from noon to 4 and a grant will fund a new mural and logo at Sprague’s Super Service on Pine Street, city officials said.  WGLT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Illinois State University President Aondover Tarhule joined seven peers in signing a letter backing a House committee-approved proposal to create an evidence-based funding formula for public universities. The measure would boost funding by $135 million annually over 15 years (to ease tuition pressure) and now awaits a full House vote.  WGLT
