ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today the city's water department and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency are cleaning Lake Bloomington and Lake Evergreen with powdered activated carbon to treat algae after a microcystin spike was detected, although tests show toxin levels remain safe. Water director Ed Andrews said testing will continue over the weekend — after which the city will resume drawing water from Bloomington and start treating Lake Evergreen next week. WJBC
