EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Ft. Jesse Imaging and the Gale Keeran Center for Women donated a GE ultrasound machine with probe accessories to the Radiography Program at Heartland Community College to boost hands-on training for health science students — the program did not previously have ultrasound equipment, and the donation opens a path for future growth in sonography. - ➤ State Senator Sally Turner sponsored two bills that passed unanimously in the Senate this week. One bill helps provide affordable housing for veterans at risk of homelessness while the other creates a commission to study farmland access for young farmers (both will now go to the House for further review). - ➤ During the Depression, thousands in Bloomington lived in unsafe homes—city officials rejected available federal housing funds until pressures from returning veterans and community needs after World War II prompted action.
