COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Kiasha Henry was named Bloomington-Normal’s first ExtraOrdinary Woman honoree for 2025 on Tuesday, April 8 at the Center for Health on Fort Jesse in Normal. Her longstanding community work including founding CHARM Inc. and organizing neighborhood events earned her the award after her husband nominated her following personal losses.  The Pantagraph

CRIME NEWS

  • Bloomington police are asking for help locating a 15-year-old girl who has been missing since March 4 — anyone with information should contact the department immediately.  The Pantagraph

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Members of the Illinois General Assembly’s Joint Committee on Administrative Rules are questioning the use of emergency rules to end the Health Benefits for Immigrant Adults program which helps immigrants ages 42 to 64. Gov. Pritzker did not include funding in his budget and the program will end on July 1 with the last day of coverage on June 30—lawmakers stressed the need for clear outreach to affected individuals.  Cities 92.9
  • Bill Workman, who has served as an associate judge since 2014, will retire at the end of July — Chief Judge Casey Costigan said Workman is respected for his work with Veterans Treatment Court and his friendly style. Full circuit judges will choose his replacement in August after the state Supreme Court approves the vacancy.  WGLT
  • The City of Bloomington said it is reversing duplicate transactions on Cycle 1 utility bills due April 5—auto-pay accounts will be adjusted and manual pay users should check their balances. The city will not charge any late fees as it processes the correction.  WJBC
