EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ More than 50 health and science students at Heartland Community College experienced the challenges of living below their means on Friday at the McLean County Farm Bureau Agricultural Center. The simulation aimed to build understanding for future patient needs plus promote empathy for those living in poverty. 25 News Now
- ➤ State education officials presented a $10.9 billion budget request for FY 2027 aimed at funding public schools — the plan includes $300 million in new spending and $50 million in tax relief grants to support the Evidence-Based Funding system. WJBC
- ➤ On April 10, a committee of school board members and educators presented an enrollment realignment plan that spares Carlock Elementary and reassigns about 600 students. The board will review the plan on April 15 while the district monitors Carlock's growth (community input guided the decision) (cost-saving options considered). WGLT

- ➤ McLean County Farm Bureau, led by Darren Davis (third-generation), urges lawmakers to raise the family farm estate tax exemption from $4 to $6 million with the Family Farm Preservation Act.
