GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bloomington officials proposed a $310.6 million budget for the 2026 fiscal year that is 6.4% lower than the budget approved last year—this reduction cuts spending by about $21 million compared to 2025. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Illinois lawmakers are looking at a bill that would remove cannabis odor as the sole reason for a car search – the measure, sponsored by state Sen. Rachel Ventura from Joliet, still requires cannabis be kept in a sealed container and urges police to look at all factors. The Senate passed the measure 33 to 20 and it will now go to the House for further review. Cities 92.9
- ➤ The city of Bloomington has proposed a $331 million budget for fiscal 2025 that increases spending on infrastructure, staffing and the fire department. The Pantagraph
