- ➤ Four Heartland Community College students have been nominated for state-level awards from the Illinois Community College Trustees Association—Ella Brownlee from Normal is nominated for the Gregg Chadwick student service scholarship, Maddison Foster of Dwight is in the running for the Gandhi/King peace scholarship, Sophia Hubbs from Normal won the Paul Simon essay contest, and Auston Koch from Bloomington is nominated for the Gigi Campbell student trustee excellence scholarship; the nominees will be recognized at an April Board of Trustees meeting and state awards will be announced in June. - ➤ Bloomington officials say residents in the 61701 ZIP code can still apply for funds to remove lead paint from homes built before 1978, and applications must be submitted with a Housing Rehabilitation Pre-Application before the program ends in June (priority is given to households with pregnant women or children with high lead blood levels).
