CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police released photos on Monday of a slender Black male suspect—about 5 feet 10 inches with black hair and all black clothing—who fled the Bone Student Center on Sunday night during a student event when a fight led to a non-life threatening gunshot wound to a non-student and remains at large as police ask the public for help. - ➤ ISU police said a slender 5-foot-10 man with an afro in all black was seen running south from University and College streets after a fight led to a shooting near the Bone Student Center on Sunday night, injuring one person who was taken to a local hospital—classes continued while the center remained closed Monday. - ➤ Bloomington City Manager Jeff Jurgens said the city addressed its housing crisis by redeveloping the former State Farm headquarters into 183 new apartments with a destination restaurant on the top floor — and by redeveloping the former Verizon site into 220 market-rate apartments with green spaces, while the City Council considered a new housing incentive policy. State Sen. Li Arellano discussed his early efforts in the Senate to reduce Illinois’ pension debt by working on a gradual repayment plan — and he urged increased funding for child advocacy centers while noting U.S. Sen. - ➤ On Monday, the Bloomington City Council approved a Standardized Housing Incentive Program to ease the housing shortage by offering incentives—developers must break ground within three years to qualify for fee reductions and density bonuses.
