Bloomington City Council will consider issuing $36 million in bonds on Tuesday, May 27, to fund water projects that could cover about 18 months of work — the council may also propose another $72.5 million bond issuance in fiscal 2027 while the water rates approved in November 2023 are set to raise monthly bills from about $17 to around $40 for typical users.

Bilingual counselors are in short supply in Bloomington-Normal as local health groups work to improve mental health services for non-English speakers.

Local organizations—like The Immigration Project, Integrity Counseling, and the McLean County Health Department—are using translation services and hiring native speakers to meet rising demand.
