  • Business owners announced that Alexander’s Steakhouse in Normal will close on May 31 if staffing remains sufficient, ending over four decades & marking the venue’s final service while the Peoria location stays open.  25 News Now

  • Organizer Jeremy Plue revived Midwest Punk Fest after a four-year break, and the festival will run on Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30 at Meltdown Creative Works on Empire Street, featuring 26 bands + a family-friendly atmosphere for the local community.  WGLT
  • Lincoln Heritage Museum remains open amid uncertainty after Lincoln College's closure. It continues to showcase Abraham Lincoln's early life and will plan a democracy-focused exhibit for America's 250th anniversary in the coming months.  The Pantagraph

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Economic development leaders in Bloomington considered tax breaks for developers when the City Council reviewed a measure Tuesday night that added about 173 acres to the enterprise zone to spur growth. The plan now awaits approval from McLean County and other local boards.  25 News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Illinois Wesleyan University will boost technology upgrades and academic infrastructure ahead of the 2026-27 school year to meet enrollment goals, including improving its website for new ADA standards. The university also launched women’s flag football this spring, with coach Melissa Valenzuela drawing over 20 students & planning further growth.  WGLT
