COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Bloomington-Normal got its first NOW chapter in early May to support women’s rights—Chapter President Lindsey Delahunt said the group started after the closing of Planned Parenthood and the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and it plans to hold community drives and meetings including a public session on Tuesday, June 10 at the Bloomington Public Library.  25 News Now

  • After a crash left a vehicle severely damaged on Thursday, Normal Police officers Larimore and Evans and firefighters helped out-of-state travelers by creatively loading their cargo onto a squad car—and took them to a local hotel when rental cars were unavailable.  25 News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • A Bloomington man was sentenced to nine years in prison for unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver — he faced charges for carrying two pounds of the drug.  The Pantagraph

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Illinois is advancing its first high-speed rail feasibility study to connect Chicago and St. Louis after federal officials criticized California’s over-budget project— the McLean County Regional Planning Commission and the Illinois Department of Transportation are gathering public input through surveys and virtual events, with an initial report expected in early 2026.  Cities 92.9
  • Bloomington City Council approved more than $10 million for infrastructure upgrades on Tuesday—this funding will pay for road resurfacing, sidewalk replacements, utility repairs, and other vital work set to begin over the next fiscal year.  WJBC

HEALTH NEWS

  • Florida-based Pentus Health is almost finished with phase one of a new health clinic at the Crossroads Center outlet mall in Normal — it will offer primary urgent care for most Rivian employees and contractors by the end of June. The 35,000 square-foot facility will later include diagnostics, urology and physical therapy for everyone in the Bloomington-Normal area — expanding access in the region.  WGLT
