GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lane reduction on North Towanda Avenue from East Raab Road to Beech Street begins 7 a.m. today for pavement repair and is expected to end by noon. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Illinois lawmakers passed House Bill 5090, allowing rideshare drivers to unionize — the measure cleared the House early Monday and the Senate last Sunday — and the bill now heads to the governor for approval. Drivers must meet low signature thresholds to form a union and gain the right to collectively bargain. WJBC

- ➤ Urban Equity Properties began construction Monday to transform the former State Farm building in downtown into an upscale 183-unit apartment complex. The nearly $80 million project aims to boost housing supply by offering one and two-bedroom units and adding new parking for residents. WGLT
