- ➤ WJBC’s 100th Anniversary beer was unveiled Saturday at Lil’ Beaver Brewery (5 Finance Drive) where locals gathered for food before tasting the limited-edition release. The beer is now available in a four-pack at the brewery and is on tap at several Bloomington-Normal venues. WJBC

- ➤ On Monday evening, a woman crashed her vehicle into a Bloomington home and was arrested by police—no injuries were reported. The Pantagraph

- ➤ The Normal Woman’s Christian Temperance Union announced four youth placed in the 2025 coloring—poster—and essay contests, with winners recognized at local, state, and national levels. The Pantagraph
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Fieldcrest High School senior Hannah Schumacher received a $5,000 scholarship from Avangrid’s Midwest development team. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Students at Regional Alternative School in Bloomington are learning gardening skills by growing food on a community plot leased from the West Bloomington Revitalization Project — a space open for anyone to reserve each season. The school, serving grades 7 to 12 from Dewitt, McLean and Livingston counties, has doubled its garden space this year to produce vegetables, fruits and herbs for school projects. WGLT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Normal Town Council approved over $1.67 million for street repairs and a $259,720 contract for water treatment plant repairs on Monday—the work will begin this month and finish by Oct. 15. A public commenter also raised labor safety concerns about using out-of-state workers for the Tailgate and Tallboys music festival, which will run from June 12th to 15th. WGLT
- ➤ Illinois criminal justice advocates said the Clean Slate Act—which passed the House Friday—will let nonviolent criminal records be sealed automatically twice a year once people finish their sentences, and the bill will go to Senate debate before the session ends Saturday. WJBC
- ➤ More than 150 bills passed the final week of the General Assembly session and now await the governor’s signature — including a shield law that protects medical providers when prescribing drugs no longer FDA approved if still recommended by WHO. A bill for automatic university enrollment for eligible students to start in the 2027-28 school year and a measure to block foster placements with traffickers also cleared both chambers — setting the stage for new state policy changes.
