- ➤ A 55-year-old man from Bloomington was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison after being found guilty of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and domestic battery for slashing a woman's throat on Aug. 10 at her home where children were present. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Bloomington police are asking for help finding Savannah Simmons, 35, a Mississippi woman who went missing on May 7 when she did not reach an expected appointment in Bloomington and is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall with brown hair and green eyes (she has ties to D’Iberville and Ocean Springs) while anyone with information is urged to call 309-820-8888 (she has a history of housing instability). - ➤ Illinois Game Con drew thousands of gamers to the Interstate Center in Bloomington on Saturday, June 7—organizers expected about 3,000 people—and featured over 100 free play games, tournaments, food trucks and vendors. The two-day event began with a game night on Friday, June 6. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Picketing for the Tailgate N’ Tallboys festival was called off after event organizers and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees reached an amicable agreement—canceling planned actions by union Locals 85 and 193 who had raised concerns about not hiring local stagehands.
