- ➤ Miller Park Zoo welcomed a baby giant anteater born early morning on June 16, and zookeepers said that mother Chili and her pup are healthy. The pairing is part of a species survival plan — one of only 90 giant anteaters in captivity — and the baby will soon rotate outdoor time with its mother while Arnaud stays in the South America habitat. - ➤ Home Sweet Home Ministries secured a Connect Transit lot for $250,000 to build The Bridge—a shelter village for unhoused residents in Bloomington—which will close on June 27 and start construction soon for a December opening amid current extreme heat conditions. WGLT

- ➤ A 19-year-old man was struck and killed by a train near the intersection of North Towanda Avenue and Kays Drive in Normal on Tuesday afternoon—he was pronounced dead at the scene and an autopsy will take place today as authorities investigate the incident. Central Illinois Proud
