CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Jacob C. Stone was arrested for burglaries at three downtown bars on North Main Street but has been released from jail under conditions—no contact with the bars, no drugs, alcohol or guns—and his arraignment is set for July 25. 25 News Now
- ➤ A Bloomington woman was sentenced to five years in prison for an aggravated robbery she reported to police in November 2023 — the court reached its decision after reviewing the case details. The Pantagraph
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ McLean County Nursing Home administrator Tim Wiley said the facility did not see a threat to elder care despite Congress approving Medicaid cuts. The county-run center in Normal now cares for about 80 residents while using a diversified revenue strategy — helping to manage its payer mix and maintain care quality. WGLT
- ➤ Bloomington-Normal YMCA, the American Red Cross of Central Illinois, and the Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal have partnered for the second year to offer free water safety lessons for youth this summer — the program divides children by swimming level and teaches both pool and classroom safety to help prevent drownings while serving fifty kids until Aug. 1. Tim Ready said the initiative meets a local need for lifesaving swim instruction for those who usually do not have access. WGLT
