- ➤ Bloomington Public Library is asking residents to suggest items for a time capsule that will mark the anniversary of its grand reopening after renovations. The library has already included a LEGO model and memorabilia and will accept suggestions until July 28 before sealing the capsule on Aug 1—families can also create their own time capsules at the event. 25 News Now

- ➤ A Bloomington man died in a single-vehicle crash near Center Street and Oakland Avenue when his truck veered off the road and struck a tree Wednesday, police said—66-year-old Richard Thoennes was pronounced dead at Carle BroMenn Medical Center and an adult male passenger was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. - ➤ The roof of Reconcile Church at 411 E. Mulberry St. collapsed on Wednesday night and officials said the site remains unstable as falling bricks were reported until 5:30 a.m.—no injuries were reported and police tape keeps vehicles and pedestrians away. WGLT

- ➤ Bloomington author Shelby Vincent is hosting a launch party for her new children's book "Perfect Through and Through" at Kegler's Pub in Pheasant Lanes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday—she wrote the book after her daughter's medical journey and it features real stories of 28 children facing health challenges. - ➤ Illinois will receive over $23 million from a nationwide $720 million settlement with eight opioid manufacturers, as Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office said the companies worsened the opioid crisis — federal prosecutors charged three people with COVID fraud and Pure Lithium Corporation will move from Boston to Illinois with a planned $46 million investment under state incentives. - ➤ The ISU speech and hearing clinic said cuts to Medicaid may reduce care for its patients and affect graduates since about 75% of its roughly 150 patients use Medicaid. The clinic has set up mobile services in other areas and will advocate locally (to protect both care and student training) as wait times may get longer. WGLT
- ➤ On Monday in Bloomington, a mosquito pool tested positive for West Nile Virus and the county health department distributed doorhangers with prevention tips. West Nile Virus typically rises from mid-summer into fall, and while most cases cause mild symptoms + severe cases can lead to high fever, paralysis, or death. 25 News Now
