Good morning, Bloomington. Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 12th of July.
COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday morning, community members gathered to celebrate Home Sweet Home Ministries' groundbreaking of The Bridge, a non-congregate shelter that will feature 48 homes, a community building and bathrooms for unhoused neighbors. The project will open in December and cost about $700,000 to operate as the ministry raises $750,000 and awaits a potential grant from McLean County—support that marks a key step in the $3 million plan. - ➤ Reconcile Church in Bloomington lost its historic red brick building’s roof on Wednesday when heavy rains caused a collapse — the structure was condemned, leaving the 40-member congregation without its longtime space. The church will hold Sunday’s services at Be Strong Gym while it works with insurers and local supporters are fundraising — a process that will guide its search for a new home. WGLT
