CRIME NEWS

  • Bloomington Police reported that 39-year-old Tegan Swank, a white woman 5′5″ tall with brown hair and blue eyes who was last seen Friday in a pink nightgown, went missing Saturday, July 12 — she is currently experiencing housing instability and police ask the public for help locating her.  25 News Now
  • The Bloomington Police Department investigated a shots fired incident early Monday — no further details have been released — as they continue their inquiry.  The Pantagraph
  • The Normal Police Department is asking for help finding three people who robbed a person at Motel 6 on July 9— the suspects fled the scene and any information may help bring them to justice.  Central Illinois Proud

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • County Highway 39 — also known as 1200 East Road or Ropp Road — in Hudson Township will be closed to through traffic from 2200 North Road to 2300 North Road starting July 21st, as bridge repairs will continue through August 22nd.  The Pantagraph
  • Sheriff Matt Lane announced Monday that he will retire at the end of his term—he served in the sheriff’s office for 28 years and thanked his family and McLean County citizens for their support.  Central Illinois Proud
  • Since July 1st, Illinois cell phone users are paying nearly 38% in combined taxes on their bills, which include state and federal fees. Dylan Sharkey from the Illinois Policy Institute said Gov. Pritzker approved the increase in the new $55.2 billion state budget — making Illinois the nation’s highest-tax state for cell phone bills.  Cities 92.9
  • U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood said he will host two live telephone town halls in July after protesters gathered at his Peoria and Bloomington offices—he defended his vote on the Big Beautiful Bill for its promise to raise take-home pay for working families—and he urged voters to schedule meetings through his office.  Central Illinois Proud
  • Bloomington City Council accepted a $13M agreement with Stark Excavating to build the North Main Street section of the downtown improvement project—marking the first phase of the streetscape plan.  The Pantagraph
