- ➤ Five Mississippi men were sentenced to probation and ordered to pay fines and restitution for illegally hunting white-tailed deer in southern Illinois, while a Chicago-area man pleaded guilty to fraud for arranging over $5 million in utility services for 2,000 properties. - ➤ Bloomington police arrested 36-year-old Joshua Glass after responding just after 2 a.m. on Wednesday to a caller who reported seeing him fire a handgun multiple times near Sheridan Street and Hinshaw Ave (he faces charges for reckless discharge of a firearm, felon in possession of a weapon, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon). 25 News Now

- ➤ A powerful thunderstorm hit Bloomington on July 16 — strong winds over 60 mph toppled trees and power lines, leaving thousands without electricity. City crews and first responders cleared debris and handled over 100 emergency calls as residents dealt with blocked roads and hazards. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Bloomington will host a household hazardous waste collection event at the Interstate Center on Oct. 4 that is open to all Illinois residents at no cost. Appointments must be made by noon Friday, Sept. 26 by calling 309-GOTO-HHW—this requirement will help manage traffic and reduce wait times. WGLT
