- ➤ God’s Mission Ministry held an event yesterday at the Salvation Army where about 20 community members walked a mile with people who are or have been unhoused to raise awareness about the challenges they face—panelists later explained issues like finding well-paying jobs and obtaining proper identification to secure housing. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Bloomington police arrested a 17-year-old on Friday and charged him as an adult with first-degree murder after he shot 35-year-old Darius Floyd at the Sunnyside Housing Complex on Thursday night; he told investigators he was holding a gun for Floyd when Floyd took the weapon from him and now faces four counts of first-degree murder, unlawful use of weapons, invalid FOID registration and unlawful possession of a firearm. - ➤ The first Arts and Health Day was held at the Bloomington Creativity Center on July 19 with activities like a hula class that helped ease stress.
