COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Habitat for Humanity of McLean County held its 200th build on August 2 at 1015 W. Taylor St. in Bloomington where volunteers, including 18-year-old Tommy Wade—an aspiring architect—helped lift roof trusses and frame walls for an energy-efficient home; the project will be finished in November and offers a no-interest mortgage for families in need.  The Pantagraph

CRIME NEWS

  • State police seized nearly 80 pounds of cocaine during a Friday traffic stop on Interstate 74 near Rt 51 south of Bloomington, and 40-year-old Osvaldo Anaya Ramirez faces charges for drug trafficking, possession and delivery after troopers matched his Guess shoes to prints found on wine barrels.  WGLT
  • A 58-year-old woman, Stephanie Smith, reported missing in Bloomington on Aug. 1 is described as a Black female about 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighing about 275 pounds with black and gray hair and brown eyes—anyone with information should contact BPD at 309-820-8888.  The Pantagraph

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jayce Eunice spoke about swimming safety at the YMCA as the American Red Cross partners with the YMCA — along with the Boys and Girls Club — to teach local children essential skills.  The Pantagraph

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Three individual lane reductions—planned for pavement repairs—will take effect Monday in Normal.  The Pantagraph

SPORTS NEWS

  • The 12th annual 'Get Your 6.6 on Route 66' run/walk will start at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23—covering a 4.1-mile course from Funks Grove to McLean.  The Pantagraph
