CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Normal’s Heartland Theatre Company announced that Rhys Lovell will step down as artistic director after the 2025-26 season (his final season) and will begin the search for a new leader this fall. Lovell, who joined the theater in 1989, said he is proud of having led more than 50 productions during his time at the company. WGLT

- ➤ Bloomington will host an inclusion symposium at Heartland Community College—details on the agenda and speakers will be released soon. The Pantagraph
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ McLean County officials updated the Go:Safe Action Plan in 2025 to identify high-risk traffic corridors and put in place steps to lower traffic deaths to zero by 2035 — the plan will guide future road safety improvements. The Pantagraph
- ➤ The League of Women Voters of McLean County is preparing a survey of the county’s two election authorities to find inconsistencies in operations and chances for improved efficiency—focusing on voter and candidate confusion—and will present its findings at a January membership meeting. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Crews will begin a $1M pavement preservation project Tuesday, Aug. 12 in several Bloomington subdivisions—Broadmoor, Brookridge, Rollingbrook North, Rollingbrook South and Hershey Grove. Donelson Construction Company, LLC was awarded the contract in July and property notices will be sent with more details. Central Illinois Proud

- ➤ Plans are moving forward for Stoneridge Square— a new 58-townhome subdivision north of Fox Creek Road near the St. Ivans Circle intersection, and developers said more details will be released soon. The Pantagraph
