- ➤ Starting Sept. 1, guests at the center will pay for snacks using only cards or mobile payments to cut wait times—Bloomington Arts & Entertainment spokesman Joshua Maubach said the change follows modern industry standards. - ➤ Forty local news organizations in Illinois received $4 million in tax credits under a state law that helps newsrooms hire and keep journalists—documents show the funds were awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Most credits went to outlets outside Chicago—official records reveal the program aimed to support local news. WJBC
- ➤ Governor J.B. Pritzker vetoed House Bill 2568 due to formatting issues that strayed from the Uniform Parentage Act and sent the bill back to the legislature for an October session. The state will offer $40 million in forgivable loans to licensed cannabis businesses until Sept. 25, and Apollo 13 astronaut Jim Lovell, who later ran a restaurant in Lake Forest, died Thursday at 97.
