ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A house fire occurred Sunday on the 3000 block of Rusty Lane when improper disposal of ashes and embers ignited a garbage can and spread to the outside of a two-story house causing $25,000 in damage—firefighters used less than 200 gallons of water to quickly contain the blaze and ensure no one was hurt. - ➤ Friday Kessler, a Heartland Community College Adult Education graduate, was named Illinois’ 2025 GED Grad of the Year on August 5 after overcoming bullying, panic attacks and mental health challenges. Now a college student, Kessler is active in the student PRIDE group + has partnered with local groups to plan a mobile health clinic. Cities 92.9

- ➤ Normal Police Department earned its tenth re-accreditation award from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, which shows strong work by its officers and staff. - ➤ Tomorrow, road work will temporarily close Fort Jesse Road from North Hershey Road to Kaisner Drive—affecting intersections at North Hershey Road and Airport Road and requiring drivers to use alternate routes until the project is complete. Central Illinois Proud
