- ➤ A man accused of grooming and trying to meet a child was released from McLean County jail after an appellate court ruled that his risk could be managed by conditions— a decision that may lead to more defendants being freed in similar cases. The Pantagraph

- ➤ On Friday, Aug. 15, Stevenson Elementary welcomed students with cheers from parents, firefighters, police, volunteers, and the mayor as part of District 87’s first day of school. - ➤ The Bloomington Public Library hosted a grand opening for its Prairie on the Patio Garden on Thursday, planting over 280 native plants and 22 species with a $3,000 grant from the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation. - ➤ Numerous agencies have set up cooling centers across Central Illinois as dangerous heat hits the region. In Bloomington, the Public Library, Connect Transit Bus station, Salvation Army Safe Harbor, Home Sweet Home Ministries, Denny’s on Eldorado and Walmart on Market Street offer cool spaces—Connect Transit is running a cooling bus from 10 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the McLean County Health Department parking lot at 200 W.
