- ➤ Taylor Matthews, owner at Edge of Normal Workshop in Bloomington, will showcase his blacksmithing on national television in an episode of Forged In Fire Wednesday — a watch party is set at Joe’s Station House on Veterans Parkway in Normal at 9 p.m. Central Illinois Proud
- ➤ Bloomington business owner Vicki Tilton said the closure of the Market Street parking garage has little effect on her salon building since clients rarely use it—employees will face changes after Oct. 1 when nearby parking is no longer available, and she expressed concern over potential demolition causing dust and noise. - ➤ A Bloomington author has written a new children's book that shows real kids facing medical challenges, inspired by her daughter who was born with cancer. She will host a book-signing event at the Gingerbread House from 2 to 3 p.m. Sept. 13—bringing local families together—while the book is available online and at local stores. WGLT

- ➤ Bloomington Marching Raiders consists of 120 students who are set to perform during the 2025 season — they are preparing for upcoming events that showcase their school spirit. The Pantagraph
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ McLean County Animal Services has moved to a new 11,000 square foot shelter at 13060 East 850 North Rd located about 1 mile from its old 5,000 square foot building built in 1993. The upgraded facility features better separation for sick animals and a state-of-the-art air filtration system—funded by a $7 million project with American Rescue Plan Act funds and pre-approved bonds—to boost adoption rates.
