ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday, September 2, 2025 shortly before 9:00 p.m., Bloomington police responded to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash near Veterans Parkway and Clearwater Avenue where an adult biker was found unresponsive and taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries—traffic on Veterans Parkway from Vernon Avenue to Clearwater Avenue was shut down while police and the accident reconstruction team completed their investigation.  Cities 92.9

CRIME NEWS

  • A Bloomington man was sentenced to 10 years in prison on a weapons charge 10 months after prosecutors said he broke into several vehicles.  The Pantagraph

CULTURE NEWS

  • Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts will host a live screening of Napoleon Dynamite starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10 with cast members Jon Heder, Jon Gries, and Efren Ramirez joining a Q&A session (tickets start at $33).  Central Illinois Proud
  • The hit CW show Masters of Illusion brings a live tour featuring famous magicians performing grand illusions and comedy at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, October 29. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 5 at 10 a.m. CT starting at $33 plus fees.  Cities 92.9
  • Heartland Theatre Co. is accepting play submissions for next year's 10-Minute Play Competition and the Mike Dobbins Memorial New Plays from the Heartland Midwest Competition.  The Pantagraph

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that U.S. 136 at the Center Street railroad crossing in McLean will be closed on September 8 for three days as Union Pacific replaces its crossing. Motorists should use a detour via interstates 55 and 155 and allow extra time for delays—drivers are urged to follow posted signs and reduced speed limits.  Cities 92.9

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Illinois home prices have jumped nearly 47% in six years as a shortage of homes has pushed the typical price from $197,000—$286,000, making it harder for families to buy a house. Estimates show the state will need at least 227,000 new homes in the next five years as supply stays far below the national average.  Cities 92.9
