- ➤ The Salvation Army hosted its 'Live in Harmony' block party on Sept. 6 with free hot dogs, snacks, games, and a big red bouncy house on Washington Street in Bloomington. The event, now in its third year, featured live music and booths from community partners (Chestnut Health, the Public Library, and others) to give families a fun and free day. The Pantagraph
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Urban Connections, a Black-owned clothing store owned by Marnetta Dismuke, held its grand opening at Eastland Mall in Bloomington today—offering unique clothing for men, women and kids with new merchandise arriving weekly. Dismuke, who celebrated five years in business, said she hopes to expand the store into a chain to better serve the community. Central Illinois Proud

- ➤ Illinois is spending more money per college student even while fewer students attend state schools. Former lawmaker Mark Batinick said that rising tuition and a funding system not tied to enrollment may push students to out-of-state schools—raising concerns about the future. Cities 92.9
