CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Normal police arrested a man—accused of armed robbery—after investigating reports of an armed man at a north Normal store last week. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Calvin Jones, 55, of Normal was arrested on Sept. 6 after an alleged Dollar General robbery on Sept. 2 in the 600 block of West Raab Road—he faces charges of robbery, aggravated robbery, and burglary and remains in McLean County Jail. WJBC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local building permits were issued in McLean County in August and early September for homes, additions, and commercial projects. The permits range from $50,000 to over $1.5 million—indicating active development in areas like Danvers and Shirley. The Pantagraph
- ➤ Bloomington City Council approved housing code changes and a TIF agreement to redevelop a downtown property into mixed use—this decision paves the way for a future renovation project. The Pantagraph
- ➤ On Monday, Bloomington City Council passed three resolutions that ease housing barriers — the changes remove zoning rules for accessory units and small shops, make it easier to buy duplexes and townhomes, and allow city staff to review a design report.
