GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The city council will consider a proposal at its meeting tonight to increase video gaming licenses from 60 to 75, which would let 12 local establishments on the waiting list get a license. City staffers say the proposed change may boost tax revenue and create jobs — spurring economic development in Bloomington. 25 News Now
- ➤ The Bloomington City Council will vote Monday evening on whether to continue a 1% grocery tax that brings in about $3 million a year and prevents a $1.5 million deficit—city officials say the tax will help pay for roads, sidewalks, and other key projects. - ➤ Bloomington warns that downtown streets will close from Sept.21 through 27 for streetscape work and combined sewer separation—Main, McGregor, and Mulberry Streets are affected, so drivers should plan alternate routes. Central Illinois Proud
- ➤ Turning Point USA students at ISU attended a prayer service at the Corn Crib in Normal on Sunday where hundreds gathered to remember Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist killed while speaking at a Utah college on Sept. 10.
