- ➤ Illinois State University will host two Halloween events for the community as Ghostly Tales Under the Stars runs at the ISU Planetarium on October 24 from 7:30 p.m. to midnight and on October 25 from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., while Trick-or-Treat at Ewing Manor will take place on October 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. offering outdoor displays, costumed volunteers, and a princess greeting children. - ➤ The Better Business Bureau of Central Illinois will host Senior Scam Stop sessions at the Bloomington Public Library at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Oct. 30 to help seniors and caregivers learn how to spot scams—after a 70% rise in scam reports this year—and share tips to cut losses. WGLT

- ➤ Illinois State University Police in Bloomington are wearing purple ribbons this month to support domestic violence victims—they plan a tabling event with Mid-Central Community Action to inform students of local resources. Central Illinois Proud

- ➤ Award-winning comedian Jane Lynch will perform in Bloomington on December 12 at 7 p.m. at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts — joining The Office star Kate Flannery, Tim Davis and the Tony Guerrero Quintet — in a special holiday show that promises a blend of comedy and music. - ➤ Bloomington Election Commission Executive Director Luke Stremlau died on Oct. 11 at OSF St. Joseph after a brief illness. He led the commission for three years with dedication — local leaders remembered his commitment to a nonpartisan process. 25 News Now
- ➤ The Normal Fire Department is urging residents to safely charge and dispose of batteries during Fire Prevention Month (using the proper charger and keeping devices on hard surfaces) and to recycle batteries at designated centers (to lower fire risks and ensure smoke detectors work). - ➤ Normal announced a temporary lane reduction on West Raab Road between Constitution Trail and the Corn Crib for pavement repairs, starting today at 5 a.m. and lasting until 3 p.m. on Oct. 22—drivers are urged to use caution in the area. Central Illinois Proud
- ➤ Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul filed a lawsuit against State Farm for not providing required zip-code level data on its homeowner insurance policies. The suit claims that the Bloomington—based company blocked a regulatory review needed to ensure fair treatment for homeowners, and State Farm said the lawsuit is without merit. WGLT
