  • Local businesses set up decorated car trunks for a trunk-or-treat event Wednesday evening outside Grossinger Motors Arena (home to the Bloomington Bison hockey team) as community members gathered for a festive night.  The Pantagraph

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Bloomington Fire Department responded to a structure fire on the 400 block of Douglas Street Wednesday night that displaced five residents and left no injuries—fire investigators determined that carelessly discarded smoking materials started the blaze and affected tenants are receiving support from the American Red Cross.  Cities 92.9

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Kobe Ramen is expected to open in Bloomington next month and will serve Japanese-style dishes.  The Pantagraph

CULTURE NEWS

  • NPR’s Steve Inskeep will speak as the guest at WGLT’s Radio Faces dinner on Oct. 30 at Illinois State University to discuss public media, democracy and changes in NPR’s funding. His remarks are expected to shed light on how news outlets plan to adapt as federal funding ends and local support grows.  WGLT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers in Bloomington experienced construction delays that began Thursday—impeding traffic on Oakland Avenue, Prospect Road, and Washington Street as temporary intersection closures were put in place for asphalt installation. Officials advise drivers to use alternate routes until the roadways fully reopen.  WJBC

  • Following a lawsuit alleging statute violations, Oak Wood Properties will offer refunds to Hilltop Mobile Home Park residents. Local residents say maintenance problems persist—raising concerns about future park repairs.  The Pantagraph
