- ➤ The Salvation Army of McLean County is opening its Emergency Winter Shelter today to offer hot meals, showers, laundry, and case management for those experiencing homelessness during the winter. The shelter will remain open through mid-March—its seasonal expansion builds on last year’s support that helped 154 individuals with nearly 2,900 overnight stays. Central Illinois Proud
- ➤ Local media teams from outlets like WMBD, WYZZ, WEEK-TV, and others gathered last Sunday at Pheasant Lanes Family Fun Center for the 39th Annual Turkey Bowl to raise funds for the ISU Child Care Center—teams played three games including a round of 'Crazy Bowl'—with WMBD taking home the plaque previously held by WEEK-TV. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City of Bloomington Township trustees will meet today at 5:30 p.m. at the McLean County Government Center at 115 East Washington Street—discussing a new Emergency Food Benefit program that will offer $200 to $500 per month to households affected by SNAP cutbacks. The program will use $150,000 from the township's general fund and may assist over 26,000 residents until funds run out or SNAP benefits are restored. 25 News Now
